Governing Agriculture

There are many localized government entities and organizations that strive to make a difference in Iowa communities. One in particular that seeks to thwart factory farms from encroaching on community land is the Iowa Alliance for Responsible Agriculture. The cite claims that it's time for a statewide factory farm moratorium now. The IARA has a vision to bring about responsible agriculture to to Iowan communities and they seek to educate Iowans about the destructive impacts of industrial livestock production.

There isn't a government organization that gives the IARA jurisdiction, but they are allowed to campaign based on the freedom of speech that we so freely maintain within the
United States. The organization doesn't necessarily propose or create laws, but on their website they have several resources that provide information toward lawful information. The organization mainly functions through members who donate time and money toward fighting against the impending factory farm in their local community. The organization offers helpful tools to allow Iowa community holders to protest the uprising of factory farms throughout the state.

Advocacy groups such as this one exist to help implement proper agricultural ethics and to keep communities safe. But when your states largest export if animal products, it proves to be somewhat unethical to expect your neighbors to uphold an agenda, an agenda that the majority of the state is against, to bring down factory farms and local area infrastructure.
